Did you know the eye of a needle is made from a punch? If you can’t thread it one
way, rotate the needle all the way around and thread from the other side. It works
every time.
When machine or hand quilting, start in the middle and work your way out and down
to prevent puckering, don’t jump around when quilting to avoid puckering
Use a walking foot when straight stitch quilting and a darning or hopping foot for
free motion quilting.
Need to know
When starting a new quilt be sure to use the same brand of rulers throughout the
cutting process to ensure correct measurements. Not all rulers measure the same.
Don’t have a quarter inch foot!!! Not to worry. A band aid, a couple of stacks of
masking tape or a piece of Dr Scholl’s mole spore works great.
To wash fabric, or not to wash fabric. That has become a personal preference. If
you do not wash before piecing your quilt, pitch a Shout, Color catcher in your machine.
It does a pretty good job of catching the fabrics that might bleed.
